How to Enter

For your convenience we have made entering your product into the Australian International Rum Awards as simple as possible:

Step 1

Register your Submission

There is no limit to how many products you submit to the Australian International Rum Awards, although we encourage all entrants to reserve submission to their finest products.

Step 2

Pay for your Submission

Fill out the entry and payment forms online, it should not take longer than a few minutes.

Step 3

Prepare your Samples

Please submit your samples alongside a printed entry form. We require two bottles for each category entry and/or one for Bottle Design category, and/or 12 sample cans for Ready to Drink Rum category.

Step 4

Send in your Samples

Please include a brief description of your product including company name, brand name, preferred product name, alcohol percentage, state and region.

Please ensure your products are packed securely.

 

Two (2) 700ml bottles are required for each entry (or three (3) 500ml or less bottles). For bottle design entry, only one (1) bottle is needed.

 

All entries must be labelled with the submission ID number which is located in the Registrations tab. Submission ID can be a sticker or tag affixed to each bottle. We require two (2) 700ml bottles of each entry in each category or three (3) 500 ml or less bottles. For bottle design entry, only one (1) bottle is needed, and/or 12 sample cans for Ready to Drink Rum category.

 

In Innovation Award category, entrants must demonstrate how their product breaks new ground or offers a novel approach to rum-making, emphasising what sets it apart from other entries. To be considered, entrants must submit a written statement of 100 words or more explaining how their product represents an innovative contribution to the world of rum. This statement must be included in paper form when entrants ship their rum bottles for judging. Judges will be looking for innovation in ingredients, production methods, aging, packaging, and other aspects that make the rum exceptional.

Entry Fees

Regardless of category, the fee is $200 (exc. GST) for each entry.

 

Only credit card payments are accepted through our payment gateway Stripe.

 

You will not be able to submit an entry without payment. Every submission will receive a confirmation email which will include a summary of your entries and payment.

Terms & conditions

  • Entries are only accepted on a completed online entry form with the appropriate entry fee. 

  • Each entry fee is $200 plus GST

  • If an entry is withdrawn by the due date, the entry fee will be returned subject to an administration charge of 50%. Products will be made available for collection at the entrant’s expense. Please note: All withdrawn submissions will be held for eight weeks after the submission deadline only. 

  • If an entry is withdrawn after submissions close no refunds will be given. This includes entries for which the products have not been received. 

  • Payment in full is required before judging commences.

  • You may submit a substitute for an existing entry, so long as you tell our organisers before submissions close.

  • The judges’ decision on all matters is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • The organisers may, at their discretion, refuse to accept an entry. 

  • The organisers may alter the closing date for the awards, place an entry in the most appropriate category, rule that an entry may not compete or is ineligible to compete, or alter the date, time or place on or at which the awards are scheduled to take place. 

  • The judges have the power to disqualify any entry not deemed as meeting the entry criteria. 

  • Please note, we are unable to return bottles unless the entry is withdrawn. 

  • All entries must be labelled with the submission ID number which is located in the Registrations tab. Submission ID can be a sticker or tag affixed to each bottle.

  • All products submitted must currently be commercially available. 

  • It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure correct details are provided. 

  • There is no limit to the number of entries per producer.

  • All entries become the property of Rum Revolution Pty Ltd once submitted. 

  • We require two (2) 700ml bottles of each entry in each category or three (3) 500 ml or less bottles. For bottle design entry, only one (1) bottle is needed.

  • Rum Revolution Pty Ltd accept no responsibility for, and will not pay for, any freight, loss, customs and/or duties, or damages. Under no circumstances will Rum Revolution or its employees be responsible for the late, non-delivery or misdelivery of any entries. 

  • Late deliveries will not be accepted. 

  • Australian legal definition of rum as follows from the Excise & Customs Act 1901. “rum” means a spirit obtained by the distillation of a fermented liquor derived from the products of sugar cane, being distillation carried out in such a manner that the spirit possesses the taste, aroma and other characteristics generally attributed to rum and has been matured by storage in wood for at least 2 years.
